The beginning of each month makes me so happy
The 1st gives you a new opportunity to start over
A chance to try again | To become new again
I’ve set so many commitments for myself this month. I’ve centered my life around discipline, habit, sacrifice and consistency. I want so much and I know it takes just those things. I’m writing my heart here and scattering it across this blog in hopes of inspiring someone along the way of discovering myself. I’m still getting the hang of expressing myself in this manner but I’m sure someone will read and find themselves in my jumbled words.
Since I launched my blog last week, I’ve gotten many questions about how I could just get up and chase my dreams. How I could quit my job, leave and move across the United States.
If you’re in search of a new way to bloom…
First thing you have to do is make a list of the things that will make you happy and why. After that start your planning. Get the top three places you would want to go. Mine were Cali, Miami and ATL. I decided on Cali because it scared the f**k out of me. (Why go somewhere that scares TF out of you?…you might ask) Well I wanted to face my fears. There is something about conquering your fears that makes you feel unstoppable. I knew that if I decided to come to California (even though it was the place I would “Least likely succeed” because so much was counting against me) and accomplish my goals I knew I could achieve anything. So I set my heart and plan ticket on Los Angeles, California. After I decided where I wanted to go, I started networking and finding people who were already there that I knew.
Money, you ask? Money really isn’t an issue. The way I look at it is…you have a job in Detroit (or where ever you are) that pays for rent and food on the table, then a similar job can be found anywhere else in the world. All you need is to be hungry to find a job once you arrive to you destination. And that has to be first priority for you.
Once I landed in California, my first goal was to find a job. And I didn’t care where. I started asking everyone I interacted with for a job or if they new of any places hiring. The point is to find a job. Even if it isn’t your first choice, you can look for a better one soon after hired but you have to secure a job where ever you go. This may be a humbling experience for some. But understand that if you do not initially find the job of your dreams…it is only temporary. I found a job in four days upon my arrival. Pretty cool huh? lol
If you want to move somewhere new, then just decide that you’re leaving. Find a location you want to go. Set a date and start tailoring your life to that commitment. No matter what anyone says to you. Stay true to your decision.
Sometimes the best way to start fresh is to leave everything you know behind. If you want to be different| If you want different things out of life| You can’t stay in the same environments | with the same people | Doing the same things. Forget your past. It has nothing to do with where you’re going and who you’re going to be.
Separate the two.
